A Note from the GM
CEO & General Manager
Marshal Larkey resides in Alexandria, Virginia and retired from the
United States Army in 2007. Marshal is the General Manager of Bird
Dog Scout ® , Sports Management and Athletic Recruiting, promoting
baseball and softball players from high school to college
opportunities and signing National Letters of Intent.
Coached high school baseball and football over 20 years up to the
American Legion level and covers players nationwide; can evaluate
and mentor positional players, catchers and pitchers. Professional
skills include College Regional Admissions Representative, National
Federation of High Schools coaching certification, Cal Ripken
coaching certification, Commonwealth of Virginia Master Coach
certification through the Virginia High School League, NCAA
recruiting, prospect showcases, training and conditioning.
Marshal completed the Baseball General Manager and Scouting
certification course in 2013. Course included MLB collective
bargaining agreement, Sabermetrics, MLB scouting techniques,
scouting reports, draft analysis, player evaluations, MLB General
Manager practices and statistical analysis. His mentors included
four-time World Series winning scout, Larry D'Amato and former
General Manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Dan Evans.
While in the United States Army, mentored strength and conditioning,
physical conditioning, weight control and minimized risk of injury;
served during Desert Storm and numerous deployments in support of
Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom; awarded the
Bronze Star Medal.
Marshal is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association
(ABCA) and an annual attendee of the ABCA Convention, American
Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
